My family calls it the Malaysian Meal but I'm pretty sure that's a misnomer:
Prepare a generous quantity of rice (perhaps 500 mL uncooked for 4 people).
In another pan, brown a family-sized portion of ground beef (0.5 kg or so)
Add a can of mushroom soup and 2-4 heaping tablespoons of turmeric to the ground beef. It will turn a wild yellow-green colour. Stir well and simmer until the rice is done.
Serve the meat mixture over the rice, and top liberally with any combination of peanuts, sunflower seeds, bananna slices, pineapple tidbits, rasins, sweetened coconut, and fine-grated cheddar cheese.
The first time I served this to my family they thought I was crazy. "Green meat? Ewwww! Dad!!". But they love it, and it's become a regular item on the menu -- about once a week these days. And so we go through a couple of big bags of turmeric a year.
I am a freelance writer. I would like to have permission to use your turmeric recipe in a magazine article I am writing for a magazine called Open (it features holistic articles about health and well-being). Do you consent for me to use parts of the recipe or the entire recipe as it reads in my article? Thank you very much. I cannot pay money for this request.
