The Multiseat proposal was approved as a feature for Fedora 11 at yesterday's FESCO meeting.

For multiseat and the assigning of keyboards/mice, Userful uses the clever trick of popping up a screen if a new device is plugged in, asking to press a key on the keyboard (usually the F1-F10 keys) which can uniquely identify each keyboard and clicking the mouse button to link it to a seat.

I run a 4-seat configuration on Fedora 8 at home (works great), and would be happy to help w/ some testing on this feature. I'm running an aging Dell Precision 650 w/ Nvidia Quadro NVS400 (provides two GPU's, each dual-headed), an Nvidia GeForce4 Ti (AGP) and a GeForce FX 5500 (PCI).

It's a regression bug fix from fedora 8.

Yes, but we want to do more than fix the regression -- we want to make it work well out-of-the-box, as smooth as possible. Perhaps with F11 we'll only get as far as fixing the regression, though, and the ootb may have to be pushed to F12.
